Last month was the hottest Moon March in the last 125 years, since there is ANM weather data. At some weather stations, the media passed 10 ° C, and the maximum in the country has approached 29 degrees Celsius, shows the climatological characterization published by ANM. 17 localities were identified in which hail fell.

  • The average monthly air temperature in March 2025 had a value of 8.7 ° C. The average monthly air temperature in Bucharest in March 2025 had a value of 10.3 ° C (Bucharest-Filret), being 3.4 ° C higher than the standard reference interval (1991-2020), it is written in the analysis signed by the Climatology Directorate of ANM.

Thus, March 2025 was the second hotest March in Bucharest, after March 1990, when the monthly temperature average was 10.6 ° C.

Differences of 47 degrees in the country

The maximum monthly temperature of March 2025, registered at the weather stations in the network of the National Meteorological Administration, was 28.8 ° C, in Calarasi, on March 15th.

The minimum monthly temperature -19.0 ° C, registered at the weather station, Omu, on March 18th.

Of all the weather stations, the hottest compared to the normal was at the Bisoca Montan Station in Buzău county, where the average was 5.7 ° C higher than the multiannual environments.

  • The largest monthly amount of precipitation, respectively 216.7 mm, was registered at the Straja weather station (Hunedoara county). The highest value of the maximum amount of precipitation registered in 24 hours was 105.7 mm and registered at the weather station, on March 29.

The total amount of average rainfall in the country from March 2025 had 50.3 mm, being 27% higher than the standard reference interval (1991 – 2020).

The least compared to the normal it rained at the Hârșova (-88%) and Constanța (-84%) stations.

Although March 2025 was a very hot month, in many areas of the country, the snow layer was maintained, and at some stations there was a new layer, says those from ANM.

Thus, the maximum thickness of the snow layer from March 2025 exceeded 90 cm at some stations in the mountain area. The highest value, 106 cm, was registered at the Lăcăuți weather station (Carpathians). In most mountain areas there were values ​​between 30 and 70 cm, except for the Apuseni Mountains, where the snow layer had a maximum thickness below 20 cm.

The average monthly air temperature in the country calculated from the data from 129 weather stations, from March 2025 had the value of 7.7 ° C, being 3.7 ° C higher than the median of the reference range 1991 -2020. Thus, and between 1961 -2025, March 2025 was the hottest month.
