“I am glad that I can inspire young people and encourage them to believe in their own forces,” said a video of David Popovici on Tuesday evening, awarded at the “9 people who inspire us-authenticity. Ascension. Performance”, organized by News.ro.

David Popovici and his team received the prize “The courage to believe in victory”.

The news agency News.ro celebrated on Tuesday, April 8, nine years since its launch through the “9 people who inspire us – authenticity. Ascension. Performance.”

The Independent Agency has launched in 2016 and is run, as editorial director, by Dana Curcea (former editor-in-chief Mediafax).

Orlando Nicoara and Irinel Bucur (former Publisher Mediafax) are business managers, notes the media page.

Nine people were awarded at the gala, which News.ro says that “they have been standing by their relevant deeds”, “are sources of inspiration for the whole society” and which “the Agency's journalists have reported over the nine years”.

“The news agency News.ro wants this event to convey its principles, messages and belief and bring in the light of reflective people and their stories, stories about empathy, about talent and hard work, about the courage to dream and to fight for your dream, about tenacity and performance, about the dedication to the community,” the agency said.

Who are the 9 people awarded at the gala

  • Adelina Toncean, the founder of the Blondie Association, who fights for the sick children, received the “Fight for Life” award.
  • The prize “Devoting for the community” was awarded to the mayor of Ciugud commune, Gheorghe Damian. “It is an honor and joy to be here. Thank you for the Romanian state. Ciugud is a small community. But we are a community with vision, with dreams and ambition. We managed, through courage, to transform these dreams into reality. Our belief is that Romania can be done through us, we can do it. 500 students (…) ”, the mayor said.
  • The prize for the “School that illuminates the future” was awarded to the educational institution the International High School of Informatics (ICHB).
  • The prize “The courage to believe in victory” was given to David Popovici and his team. He could not be present at the event, but sent a video message. “I am glad that I can inspire young people and encourage them to believe in their own forces,” the athlete said.
  • The prize for “Innovation in Financial Services” went to the new Romanian Digital Bank Salt Bank.
  • The “professional dedication” prize was awarded to the ATI doctor at the Matei Balș Elena Copaciu Institute.
  • The prize “The image that tells the truth” was awarded to the Independent Press Photography Agency Inquam Photos, founded by photojournalist Octav Ganea.
  • The “Cinematography diplomacy” award was awarded to the director Bogdan Mureșanu, for the movie “New Year who was not”, released in 2024. The director could not be present at the event, but sent a video message.
  • The prize “Resistance through culture” was awarded to the poet Ana Blandiana.
