A wave of Arctic cold caused an accentuated cooling throughout Eastern Europe, including in Romania, where low temperatures, rainfall and snow were recorded in some areas. The cold episode will continue this week in southern Europe, warns meterologists, according to The Guardian.
In the middle of spring, the Europeans have had winter temperatures in the last days. Severe-Weather meteorologists say that this episode is caused by a complex of atmospheric factors.
Specifically, the cold wave is due to a large pressure zone above the North Sea, which allowed the cold air to move south.
The weather forecasts consulted by The Guardian show that during the week, the cold will expand, and the temperatures will be 5-10 Celsius below average, affecting regions such as Russia, Germany, Estonia, but also southern Italy and Greece. The mountain regions will have maximums below zero degrees, with possible snowfall.
In contrast, Western Europe will experience temperatures with 5 Celsius above average, and France and Spain will have maximums around 25 degrees C, and the maximums in the United Kingdom will be around 10 degrees.
In the United States, severe weather continues to affect the center and east of the country, with storms and floods, while a high pressure system develops in the west, bringing a significant cooling. Also, in the Canary Islands, the Nuria storm brought strong winds and heavy rainfall.
How will the weather be in Romania
The weather will continue to be cold in almost the whole country, until Thursday, with low temperatures, but also with snow in some areas. From Friday, however, “we could even have a spectacular heating”, according to the forecast director within the ANM.
“There are no temperatures from April, rather resemble a winter end, considering that the rainfall have all the forms, not only snow, have the form of rain show,” said the forecast director, Florinela Georgescu, at Digi24.
The meteorologist also said that, starting on Friday, “we could even have a spectacular heating, judging by the fact that a much warmer air mass will be approaching from Central Europe.”
