The price of eggs in Romania is among the lowest in the EU / “the Americans have also asked us, but we cannot give them for now”

Romania has among the lowest egg prices in the European Union, at the Farm Gate, according to the President of the Union of Bird Breeders in Romania (UCPR), Ilie Vanchiar. He says there are no reason for prices to rise during Easter, because farmers will increase production. The United States wanted to import eggs from Romania, but impose certain conditions that Romanian farmers cannot meet at the moment.
“According to the pricing observer in the European Union, the price of eggs in Romania, at the farm gate, was 211 euros/100 kg last week, which means that the egg was sold for about 60 money, while last year in the pre -period of the Easter holidays was somewhere for 55 money.
If I look at the prices registered in other countries, Romania has among the lowest prices in the European Union, at the farm gate.
Bulgaria is 222 euros/100 kg, Hungary has 286 euros/100 kg, Poland – 314 euros/kg, we have 211 euros, and that we are Finland with a price of 204 euros/100 kg. Otherwise, all the other EU countries are over us, ”said the president of the Union of Bird Breeders in Romania (UCPR), Ilie Van.
In the next period no significant changes are expected at the price of eggs
He said that there are no reason to increase the price of eggs at the farm gate in the next two weeks, given that the price registered last week of 211 euros/100 kg was lower than a week before, when about 215 euros/100 kg was reported.
“The price of eggs in Romania, at the farm gate, also according to the price observer in the EU, a week before was 214.66 euros/100 kg, about 215 euros, a little higher than last week, when it was 211 euros/100 kg.
In the next period we do not estimate significant changes. Basically, there are no reason to increase the price of eggs in the next two weeks. I want to tell you that I saw in cardboard supermarkets with 30 eggs from chickens raised in the cage, code 3, with 24 lei, ie 80 money. The European Union only monitors the 30 30 cardboard egg and in the cage growth system. Of course, for the eggs obtained from another growth system, code 2, code 1, we will pay more. And the packaging is another, and the price increases, “added Ilie Van.
Farmers schedule their flows so that the egg offer to grow Easter
Regarding the egg offer of the poultry industry, during the period prior to Easter holidays, the president of the UCPR stressed that this year is about 50% higher than in a regular month.
“In general, the offer during this period of Easter holidays increases by about 50% compared to a regular month. If in a regular month a Romanian eats about 21 eggs, average consumption, in the month with Easter holidays eat 30 eggs. he explained.
Phampic farms in Romania can provide 100% internal egg consumption, but also deliver for export, in the EU countries.
Why we can't export eggs to the US
Regarding the possibility of exporting eggs to the US, which is experiencing an egg deficit, the president of the UCPR stressed that there are certain conditions that breeders in Europe cannot meet.
“The Americans have also asked us for eggs, but we cannot give them for now. There are conditions that they put in Europe and we do not meet, in the sense that they want the eggs to be washed, and we do not do this, and then frozen. It is very difficult to transport the egg in Europe in the USA. Denmark, at least what we discuss in the European profile Association.
I have no information that someone is currently taking eggs from Europe to the US. They probably found from outside the borders of Europe. I understand that Turkey would be agreed. There are different conditions and the legislation is different in America compared to Europe and it must be harmonized, ”added the President of the UCPR.
According to the data communicated by the National Institute of Statistics, quoted by the president of the UCPR, last year, in the EU countries, over half a billion eggs, and almost 200 million eggs came from there. Egg production was about 5.86 billion eggs in 2004, of which about half (40%-45%) comes from farms and the rest in households.
Currently, in supermarkets have already appeared for sale ready-painted eggs, but they come more from intra-community exchanges, from countries such as Austria or Germany, where the world no longer paints eggs.
