Important meeting of ministers from the EU. They are preparing the answer to Donald Trump's customs
The meeting was convened by the Polish presidency in the EU Council in connection with the response prepared by the European Commission towards the United States.

“There have been no such duties we saw last week in the last 100 years” – Baranowski assessed in Luxembourg, where in April meetings of ministers are held. He reminded that before age the tariffs led to a great crisis that caused the loss of millions of jobs and intensified political extremisms.
As the deputy minister of development emphasized, the purpose of the meeting is to prepare the EC tips on how to react to the so -called Mutual duties imposed last week by the United States. He added that the purpose of the meeting is also to maintain unity.
The EC announced retaliation for the American duties. In the first place, the EU is to respond to duties imposed by Trump's administration on steel and aluminum – The decision on this matter is to be made this week after the member states voting. The US also imposed tariffs on the automotive industry and the so -called mutual duties, which in the case of the EU will be 20 percent.
“We are still trying to understand accurate mathematics and standing ideas (behind the so -called mutual duties), but it is quite clear that there will be no winners in this confrontation. In reality, as you all know and you have seen only during Thursday and Friday, the American stock market lost over $ 5 tr.” – said Deputy Minister Baranowski.
He expressed the hope that the dispute would end “as soon as possible, the EU negotiations from the USA”.
EC wants to negotiate with Washington
Commissioner Marosz Bossovicz is responsible for negotiations on behalf of the EC. Before the meeting, he announced that he would report to the ministers a state of talks with Washington. On Friday, Slovak talked on the phone with the American Secretary of Trade Howard Lutnick and a representative for US trade Jamieson Greer.

Trade ministers will also talk about EU trade relations with China. “This is associated with our transatlantic relationships, because you can worry that products that have been cut off from the US will be moved to other markets,” Baranowski emphasized.
