What Russian drivers need to know about changes in traffic rules since April 1
Replacing driver's license:
– drivers with certificates in which the validity period is indicated before the end of 2022, subject to replacement. The government extended such rights until 2025 automatically. This will require a medical certificate and payment of state duty;
– Foreign citizens must replace the rights to Russians before April 1, 2025.
New fines begin to operate:
– speeding of more than 80 km/h – 7.5 thousand rubles;
– drunk driving – up to 45 thousand rubles;
– exit to the oncoming lane – up to 7.5 thousand rubles;
– “Discount” to timely paid fines reduced to 25%, But the payment term is increased to 30 days;
-The penalty for the repeated absence of OSAGO is increased to 3000-5000 rubles.
