Nicuşor Dan, an independent candidate for presidential, said on Thursday evening that he cannot make public the names of the people who donated for his campaign, without having their acceptance. “There are businessmen who have absolutely fair businesses,” said the general mayor of the Capital, in a press statement at the PMB headquarters.
Nicușor Dan mentioned that their name will appear in his next declaration of wealth. At the same time, he gave assurances that this is “business people who have absolutely fair business”.
“The law obliges the communication to the state of the donors with over 5,000 lei, which I did for 2024. And, if you look at the declaration of wealth I submitted with the application file for the presidency, you will see a fairly consistent list with people who donated over 5,000 lei. I do.
Nicuşor Dan also responded to the accusations that, during the mandate at the Capital City Hall, he would have favored those who made donations for his campaign, in the local elections.
“Ovidiu Liliac was a high school colleague. If I am not mistaken, he donated me 10,000 lei in the 2020 campaign. A company he worked had a contract-I do not remember if before-there is no connection between these two things. Give it back later.
The statement of the mayor of the Capital comes after PSD asked him to present the names of those who donated them for the presidential campaign more than 40,500 lei on Monday.
Later, on April 1, Nicuşor Dan made the donations public for his campaign. In a Facebook post, the mayor of the Capital has put a link to his campaign site, where it is stated that they have collected from donations, so far, over 3 million lei.
“I do not file anyone, but I am curious how much public money has already been spent for the pre-Campania of Mr. Antonescu. It would be good to see at least the amount spent, in a gesture of transparency, as I made all the private donations used in my campaign.
