Estonia is afraid of Russia. The authorities made a decision

The first 14 bunkers will be completed in autumn in the north-east region, and the next four will be built on the southeastern border.
According to military officials, the project was influenced by the experience of the war in Ukraine, and the bunkers will be designed to withstand 152 mm missiles. “We did not test bunkers against drones, but we used enough explosives to ensure their protection. In addition, we rely on methods used in Ukraine, such as nets and other special measures to prevent drones to prevent drones inside” – explained Ainar Afanasjev, head of the Defense Force Engineering Department.
The fortification network will include not only bunkers – anti -tank dams and fire stations will also be installed. In times of crisis, other defensive means, such as explosives, faces and strategic destruction of bridges and pipelines, may also be used. “In times of room, these funds are not activated, but in times of crisis they will be used,” said Afanasjev. In total, the eastern border will be built approx. 600 bunkers. Although the structures will be located mainly on state lands, private land will also be used.
The authorities currently set the exact location of bunkers and try to maximize the use of state lands. They will contact the victims of private owners and negotiations will take place to agree on the conditions on which their land can be used. Acquiring land is not necessary because each bunker requires only 50 sq m and the right of use is enough.
NATO Secretary General warned on Thursday that the Russian threat could persist after the peace in Ukraine can be finalized. Earlier, Mark Rutte promised a “destructive” answer in the event of an attack on Poland or other NATO country.
