The attack on Zelenski's hometown, which comes against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump to put an end to the war, damaged residential blocks and caused fires, wrote the governor Sergei Lîsak on the Telegram Messegress application, according to Reuters.
At least 50 people were injured, said the emergency services, adding that their number was increasing. Over 30 people, including a three -month -old baby, were in the hospital, Lîsak said.
Zelenski said the rescue operation was ongoing and asked the West to make higher pressure on Moscow.
“The whole world sees it. Every rocket, every attack drone proves that Russia is looking for war.”he wrote on Telegram.
The United States said last week that they had agreed with Russia and Ukraine for the two parties to cease the attacks on the other party's energy infrastructure, being the first such step since Trump took over in January, promising that it would end the war in 24 hours.
Both parties later accused them of violating the agreement.
Kiev claims that he has previously accepted the US proposal for a complete and unconditional armistice for 30 days, but Russia rejected this measure in separate discussions with American officials.
“We must end this terrorism, protect people and force Russia to reach peace.”said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
The Russian forces used a ballistic missile for attack, said the human rights, Dmitro Lubinets.
Such weapons reach targets in just a few minutes and are difficult to bring down, except for high performance air defense systems.
“No military objective – only civil infrastructure”he added on Telegram.
Russia denies the fact that they were targeting civilians, but thousands of people were killed and injured in its invasion of Ukraine of 2022.
On Wednesday, a Russian rocket hit a company from Krivoi Rog, killing at least four civilians.
