The refinery in Kirisza is the second largest oil processing plant in Russia, giving way only to the refinery in Omsk. This object is a key supplier of oil products for St. Petersburg and Leningrad, Nowogrodzki and Pskowski Districts. The plant processes over 20 million tons of oil annually, producing about 80 types of products, including gasoline, diesel, mazut and aviation fuel, which also go to the Russian army.

According to information provided by SBS, a vast fire broke out as a result of a drone attack in the refinery.
