The ex-designer of the Krasnoyarsk metro Oleg Mitvol was refused

September 6 15:12

The court refused to prematurely release the ex-designer of the Krasnoyarsk metro from the colony of Oleg Mitvol, RIA Novosti reports. The case was considered in the Moscow Regional Court.

During the consideration of the case, the defenders presented the information that they handed over to the President of the Russian Federation a petition for the pardon of Oleg Mitvol. The pardon commission also handed over the opinion of the Federal Penitentiary Service, which gave Mivol a positive characteristic.

Now a businessman, convicted of 4.5 years in prison for theft during the construction of the metro, works as a manager at the colony club. He attends circles and educational events, for which he even received gratitude to the administration. A letter of warranty was submitted to the court that in the event of the release of Mitch, he would be hired by the deputy general director of “New Izvestia” with a salary of 200 thousand rubles.

The defense asked to replace the unexpected part of the term with a milder punishment – a fine, restriction of freedom or correctional work. But the Moscow Regional Council refused to let him out of the colony ahead of schedule, considering that such a “incentive measure” is premature.

Recall that Oleg Mitvol was arrested in 2022 on suspicion of embezzlement of more than 900 million rubles in the construction of the metro in Krasnoyarsk. In 2023, the Krasnoyarsk Zheleznodorozhny District Court sentenced him to 4.5 years in prison under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud) and recovered more than 940 million rubles. On March 28, 2024, the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court upheld the sentence. In July, the businessman was transferred to the colony in the Moscow region.
