Another EU sanctions for Russia. Unofficially: EC intensifies the work

The European Commission wants to maintain pressure on Russia, adopting subsequent sanctions in the face of the lack of willingness from Moscow to start peace talk to Ukraine.
Another EU sanctions for Russia? This is to concern
The diplomat in an interview with PAP indicated that the next package will probably not apply to new sectors of the economy-because in this case there is no unanimity of the EU “27”-but specific people and companies. It is also to cover more so -called ships shadow fleets that transport Russian oil, thus bypassing Western sanctions. “Perhaps the EC will propose to exclude subsequent Russian banks from the SWIFT system,” he added.
On Thursday, the head of the EC Ursula von der Leyen talked by phone with the US Vice President JD Vance in the case of, among others maintaining a uniform front in terms of sanctions.
– The better we coordinate our activities with partners, the more effective they are. We have a lot of evidence that confirms this. For example, I am thinking about joint activities with the G7 on the price (Russian) price of crude oil, which bring results. As we know, sanctions are effective, which is why we will continue to put pressure on the Russian war economy, increase costs for Russia, which results from a lack of involvement in peaceful talks and ultimately is to negotiate with President Putin – Ke Paula Pinho spokesman, asked about the reasons for this conversation, said on Friday in Brussels.
She added that work was underway on the 19th package of EU sanctions, but she did not want to talk about details.

EU sanctions for Russia
In July, the EU adopted the 18th Package of EU sanctions against Russia. He took up the restrictions of another 105 ships from the Russian so -called shadow fleets and their shipowners and limited the access of Russian banks to financing.
The shadow fleet are old, worn -out ships, mostly uninsured and floating under various flags, which Russia uses unofficially to transport its oil to avoid Western sanctions. Ships are also a serious threat to the waters of EU countries, because in the case of e.g. oil leakage, no one is responsible. The West successively imposes sanctions on subsequent units from this fleet.
The eighteenth EU sanctions package also provides for a total ban on Nord Stream gas pipelines. The price ceiling for Russian oil was also reduced. The limit of raw material prices – exported to third countries – is set at 15 percent. Below the market value from the last three months.
The price limit is a sanction mechanism introduced by G7, EU and Australia in December 2022 in order to limit Russia's income from oil export. Western countries did not prohibit the buying of Russian oil by other countries (e.g. India, China), but introduced the principle that companies from the EU, USA, G7 and their allies cannot provide transport and insurance services, intermediary for the transport of Russian oil, if it is sold in the price above the set limit.
The export of technologies used in the production of combat drones has also been limited. Sanctions also covered the largest refinery of the Russian Naftowa Rosneft company in India. Restrictions also include people involved in the system's indoctrination of Ukrainian children.
Accepting each package of sanctions in the EU requires unanimity.
