Iran fired missiles at a US base in the Indian Ocean. The Pentagon is silent

The missiles were fired on Friday morning local time, reports the Wall Street Journal. One of the missiles suffered a technical failure during the flight. In response, the second US warship fired an SM-3 anti-missile missile.
However, it has not been confirmed whether the missile was successfully intercepted or whether it missed the target itself. — None of them hit the base, said a representative of the American administration quoted by the Wall Street Journal.
Missile range longer than declared
The missiles flew about 3,800 km from the Iranian coast, a US official told CNN. This is a distance that significantly exceeds Tehran's official declarations regarding the capabilities of its missile arsenal.
A month ago, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi claimed that the range of Iranian missiles is limited to 2,000 km. Friday's attack may prove that the real capabilities of Iranian weapons are much greater.
The White House and Pentagon have not yet issued an official statement regarding the attack. The UK government recently authorized the United States to use its bases to launch strikes against Iranian missile facilities.
