At the age of 91, the world -famous Italian fashion creator Giorgio Armani, founder of the Empire with a global reach, died on Thursday. He informed his fashion house about his death. In recent weeks, Armani, called the King of Italian fashion, did not show himself publicly because of his illness.
As announced, the coffin with the designer's body will be exhibited in Milan on Saturday and Sunday. The funeral will be private.
At the age of 90, Armani was active and planned to continue his activity, saying that he could not live differently.
Among the features that distinguish his work, the timeless elegance, classic style and perfectionism were always mentioned.
He was famous for the fact that for decades he had controlled every output of models and models to the catwalk and guarded the smallest detail to the last moment.
Armani said about himself: – I am pragmatic and rational, but all my actions come from my heart.
“Everyone of my idea is essentially a fruit of falling in love with this work, which is a life for me, a constant act of love,” he said receiving the doctorate of Honorary Milan Milan Catholic University of Sacred Heart.
Giorgio Armani was born on July 11, 1934 in Piacenza in the Emilia-Romania region. In 1953 he began studying medicine in Milan, but after three years he interrupted his studies and was called to the army. After completing his service, he did not return to the university, but began to work as a seller at the Rinascente department store.
The breakthrough came in 1965, when the well -known stylist Nino Cerruti hired him to design a new collection of clothes for him.
It was thanks to him that he debuted in the fashion world, presenting the line under his name, which also convinced him to create a personal brand.
To take his first steps, he sold his “Beetle”.
The debut original collection of Giorgio Armani was presented in 1975, when he founded a company with such a name with his life partner Sergio Galeottim, who died 10 years later.
In a speech given on the occasion of giving him the title of doctor honoris causa, the designer explained to students management: – Many people thought that I could not save the company.
– I overcome difficult moments thanks to commitment and rigor; Values taken from the house, which I always show those who believe in myself, and I recommend them even more now when ephemeral successes are multiplying – he said.
The Italian fashion creator began to be loud in the world of the film in 1980, when he designed costumes for Richard Gere in the film “American Żigola”. Since then, he was one of the favorite designers in Hollywood.
The following years brought a rapid development of his career.
“I'm not a visionary, but a person standing hard on the ground,” he said, presenting a book about his life.
As he confessed, as one of the reasons for the greatest satisfaction, he considers the fact that he has changed the style of dressing men and women.
“I conducted my revolution, delicate and quiet, but serious, enduring the rules that have been for 30-40 years,” added Giorgio Armani.
He also confessed: – Saturday and Sunday is a tragedy for me, because I feel lost without work.
Italian politicians paid homage to the King of Fashion, among them the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani.

Prime Minister Giorgia Melons wrote about Armani on the X platform: “With his elegance, restraint and creativity, he was able to give the prestige of Italian fashion and inspire the whole world. The icon, tireless employee, symbol of the best Italy.”
The designer Miuccia Prada said that Armani, admired for elegance and creativity, was “the absolute protagonist of Italian and international fashion.”
The management of the Film Festival on Venice on Venice paid tribute to the deceased wizard.
The coffin with Armani's body will be exhibited in Milan on Saturday and Sunday. Funeral ceremonies on Monday will be private.
On the day of the funeral in Milan, mourning will apply – announced the mayor of Giuseppe Sala.
