The independent candidate Nicuşor Dan claims that in the online medulus there are thousands of photo or video materials, which are paid and unseen and present false or context information. He accuses of bad faith and incompetence the institutions of the state that should regulate the election campaign.
In a press conference held on Saturday, Nicușor Dan presented examples of photo or video materials posted on social networks without being assumed, saying that exactly what happened in the past election campaign, with support accounts for Călin Georgescu.
“We are a week of election campaign and, unfortunately, the authorities of the state that manage the election campaign also show incompetence, and bad faith. On the one hand, there is a form of censorship to the simple citizens, who simply make posts without promoting, without putting money, who supports another candidate.
On the other hand, in the online space there are thousands of unassuming photo or video, which are paid and circulating against me, but probably against other candidates. Exactly what happened in November 2024, unassuming materials that then supported Călin Georgescu, exactly this is what happens without the state authorities having any reaction ”, said Nicuşor Dan, quoted by News.ro.
He says that in the online environment there are distributed images made with artificial intelligence, on unassuming accounts, the electoral law is violated and no one intervenes.
“The permanent electoral authority is either incompetent, or proceeds with bad faith. (…) I ask AEP to take measures so as to ensure a balanced competition between candidates and avoid exactly the thing for which Romania canceled the elections in 2024-the massive promotion of unpaved online materials,” said Nicușor Dan.
