This Thursday, Portugal declares a day of national mourning in honor of the victims of the derailment from Elevador da Glória: until now, 17 deaths and 21 injured have been confirmed, 5 in serious condition.
No Romanian is among the wounded, while the identity of the dead has not been published.
The company Glória Carris, responsible for the maintenance of the funicular, said that “all the necessary protocols” were respected, including the monthly, weekly and daily inspection programs. The Council of Lisbon has suspended the Service of the Bica, Lavra and Graça functions for “technical inspections”, according to Freedom.
