Since in July it was announced that the following month will be expensive, as a result of the excise increase, and the goods, as a result of VAT growth, people filled their tanks in cars, but also the refrigerators, which led to a growth of business in the retail over 7%.
“The increase in July is due to the growth recorded in the retail trade of fuels for vehicles in specialized stores (+10.7%), sales of food, drinks and tobacco (+6.3%) and in non -food products (+6.1%),” say statistics.
Also, the sales caused by the expensive ones that followed were also felt in the total sales of the first 7 months, which increased by over 3% compared to the first 7 months of last year, according to a statement sent by the National Institute of Statistics on Thursday.
“In the period 1.I-31.VII.2025 the volume of turnover in the retail trade increased compared to the period 1.I-31.VII.2024, both as a gross series by 3.1%and as a series adjusted according to the number of working days and seasonality by 3.5%. This is due to the increase of the sales of non-food products (+5.8%) Specialized stores (+3.7%) ”, the statistics show.
Sales of food, drinks and tobacco products decreased, however, in the first 7 months by 0.7%.
