Arctic development strategy extended until 2050

Russian President Vladimir Putin will approve a large -scale update of the development strategy of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. The document adopted in 2020 was significantly modified and extended until 2050.
According to the North Press, the head of the Ministry of Health of the Estate, Alexei Chekunkov, explained that the need to revise the strategy is associated with serious changes that have occurred over the past five years.
“The draft Decree of the President of the Russian Federation on amendments has been prepared. In the future, a comprehensive plan for the implementation of projects with ensuring financing will be developed, ”the minister said.
The key priorities of the updated strategy were the development of the Northern Sea Route and the transarctic transport route, the rational development of the resource base, the renovation of the supporting settlements, the protection of the interests of the indigenous peoples of the North and the ensuring environmental safety.
