Great Britain used frozen Russian assets to finance military aid for Ukraine worth over 1 billion pounds – on Wednesday British defense minister John Healey announced during his visit to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.


The statement issued by the British Ministry of Defense reads that thanks to this financing it was possible to buy “hundreds of thousands of artillery ammunition, hundreds of anti -aircraft missiles, spare parts, as well as the conclusion of new support contracts aimed at helping in maintaining and repairing equipment and vehicles in Ukraine.”
This military support for Ukraine is financed through a loan granted by the UK government in the amount of 2.26 billion pounds, as part of a special fund. This loan is repaid from funds obtained from frozen Russian assets.
During his visit to Kiev, Heaaley co -charged to the virtual meeting of the so -called koalicji chętnych, w którym uczestniczyli przedstawiciele ponad 30 krajów. Discussions focused on the military contribution to potential multinational forces, which could be sent to Ukraine after the conclusion of a peace agreement with Russia.
The head of the ministry said that Great Britain “reviews the level of readiness of the British armed forces (…) to be ready for possible sending (soldiers) to Ukraine.”
Healey announced that during the fifth visit to Ukraine he met with the Minister of Defense Denys Szmyhalem, whom he assured about “continuous unity for Ukraine in both Great Britain and in the entire coalition of volunteers.”
A statement published by the ministry lists the equipment supplied by Great Britain Ukraine in the last 50 days: 4.7 million pieces of ammunition to Strzelecka weapons, 60,000. artillery shells, rockets and missiles, over 2,500 drones, over 200 electronic combat systems, 100 light weapons, 30 vehicles and equipment for controlling drones and air defense.
