To date, several million VTB customers have been connected in the online Bank state biometrium. For the first half of the year with thefts of their funds, only 0.0025% of them collided. This was stated this within the framework of the VEF-2025 by the Deputy President of the VTB Board Alexander Pakhomov.

When fraudsters try to withdraw money, the bank antifrod system is triggered, which requires confirmation of operations on facial biometrics. Attackers cannot go through this test, even having a photo of a client or an image generated using neural networks. Thus, such thefts are prevented in almost 100% of cases.

In situations where, under the influence of scammers, the user transfers money to them, the bank seeks to save it “on the last mile”. If the client enters the mobile bank during a call from a suspicious number or sets out remote access programs, VTB sends the client SMS and a Push pre-pre-trial for attacking scammers.

“Biometric technologies have already changed our everyday life – with their help we make purchases, go to work, pay for travel in transport. For financial services, biometrics are a new stage of evolution, this is the safest and most reliable way to identify that protects the data and means of customers. We expect that in the near future, biometrics will become an industry standard and will spur the development of new digital services, which will also allow you to eradicate the problem of fraud, ”commented Alexander Pakhomov.

Earlier, VTB analysts evaluated that confirmation of operations by a person before the end of the year could save more than 2 billion rubles of client funds from scammers and increase the share of conscientious online loans. The main reason for the delivery of biometrics for every second Russian is to protect funds from scammers, showed a VTB survey*. 23% noted convenience without documents and cards, 22% – quick authorization in banks and public services, 21% – withdrawing cash without a card and phone, 15% – contactless payment in transport and stores **.

*In the survey in June 2025, 1,500 adults of large cities in Russia participated.
** The question made it possible to choose several answer options.
