In the third stage of Ligue 1, Olympique Lyon defeated Olympique Marseille by 1-0 on Groupama Stadium, thanks to an unhappy autogole marked by the Argentinian Leonardo Ballerdi at the end of the match. Thus, Lyon stays with a perfect course in the championship.

The match took place in a tense atmosphere, and a decisive moment took place from the first half: in the 29th minute, CJ Egan -iley received the red card directly for a hard foul, leaving his team in numerical inferiority.

After this moment, Lyon intensified the pressure, but the goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli saved the situation with several spectacular parades, keeping the score equal until the break.

Abner and Tessmann, close to empty

The hosts created danger on several occasions: Abner Vinícius missed two clear occasions, while the midfielder of the American national, Tanner Tessmann, also wasted an important chance. Although Marseille tried to threaten the counterattack, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg was defended by Rémy Descamps.

Balerdi's unfortunate autogole has decided the match

When everything seemed to go to an equal without goals, the dramatic denouement came in the 88th minute. Nicolás Tagliafico collided with rolls, the ball ricocheated from the bar, and after the confusion created, Pavel Sulc's shot was diverted to the Ballerdi's body – thus bringing the victory for Lyon.

With this victory, Lyon maintains his perfect course after three stages, being, along with PSG, the only mistake in Ligue 1.

Instead, Marseille started the season weakly: he lost two of the first three matches and is at the bottom of the standings.
