The leaders of the PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR have failed to reach an agreement on the package of measures aimed at the cuts of the local administration on Sunday. The apple of discord is the percentage of positions to be cut – respectively occupied and unoccupied positions. At the five -hour meeting, Prime Minister Bolojan also spoke about a resignation.

Sunday meeting started at 13.00, already after several misunderstandings between the coalition members. On Tuesday, the leaders of the coalition agreed that 40,000 positions would be reduced from the local administration, ie 25%, but on Friday, when the package was debated and the package came to other scenarios.

Bolojan wanted to cut more than had already settled in coalition

According to PSD sources, the prime minister obtained data according to which a 25% discount of the total number of positions would not bring an economy, because no position would have restructured, in the context where not in all local public institutions the scheme is complete.

So it proposed the variant of a reduction of 45% of the total number of positions, occupied and unoccupied, which aroused dissatisfaction in the coalition. About this scenario he also wrote Digi24 as well as TVR Info.

The Liberals, however, argue now that the variant proposed by them is 40% of the positions – out of the total positions, that is, also occupied and unoccupied. They point out that this would mean a discount of 10% of the already occupied positions, ie the dismissal of about 13,000 employees.

PSD asked for postponement. What reason invoked

With these discussions he arrived at the Sunday meeting. When, according to Hotnews sources, the Minister of Development, Cseke Attila, said that, at this moment, there are 177,000 positions in the local administration, and Prime Minister Bolojan said that 68% of the positions are occupied – that is about 120,000 positions.

The social-democratic leaders said that the final decision regarding the number of cut positions cannot be taken yet, because more calculations and evaluations are needed. On the other side, PNL and USR have continued to support the option in which 40% of positions in the local administration are eliminated.

Prime Minister threatened with resignation

During the discussions, Ilie Bolojan told the other leaders that, if the coalition does not find a solution to reduce the number of state employees, they must look for another prime minister, they confirmed PNL and USNews sources.

“If we are not able to make a simple reform, cut 10 percent of the local administration, seek another solution, without me. Let someone else impose their point of view,” said Bolojan, according to Freedom.

The meeting ended without any agreement and without any public statement. At the same time, the project of reform of the public administration was postponed until September 15, according to coalition sources.

Regarding the other five projects in the package 2 measures, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan is going to hire his liability before the Parliament, on Monday, September 1st.
