Schneider (in fact is called differently, the name changed to the needs of the article), says about himself that he is economical and has control over his budget. He consciously chose the canton of capture as a place of residence, because taxes are low there.
I work 80 percent full -time, approx. 40 hours a week, four to eight night shifts and one to two weekend changes per month. Working full -time, I would spend all the time in the hospital.
Every month, 11 thousand are credited to my account. 390 Franks (less than PLN 52,000). I also receive the 13th salary. Because I work in a private hospital, I could negotiate my salary. Public hospitals have salary tables based on professional experience. There I would probably earn 20 % less.
In Switzerland, a conversation about remuneration is a taboo subject. I don't know how much my colleagues earn, and when I ask, I'm not sure I will receive a sincere answer. In Germany it was much more transparent. There I could check carefully in the collective system how much I earn in my position.
Expenses
I live alone in a two -room apartment with an area of 60 sq m eight years ago it was completely renovated. From the balcony I have a beautiful view of Lake Zurryskie.

I pay 1 thousand for the rent and additional fees. 570 Franks (approx. PLN 7,000 130, counting at the current exchange rate).
When it comes to insurance, I haven't paid enough attention yet. That is why I do not have property insurance or civil liability insurance. I actually think that legal protection insurance also makes sense. Given the hourly rates of lawyers, the legal dispute quickly becomes expensive. I have to take care of it as soon as possible.
Car
I don't like public transport. Going to work and in my free time I use the car. Last year I took BMW M135 XDrive in leasing, whose catalog price is 85,000. Franks (over PLN 386 thousand). The monthly leasing installment is 902 francs (approx. PLN 4,000 100). I spend an additional 100 francs (over PLN 454) per month on gasoline. In addition, there is a rent for a parking space at the hospital and at home. Together, it gives 120 francs (over PLN 545) per month.
Car insurance is 225 francs (over PLN 1,000) per month, and tax on engine vehicles 60 francs (less than PLN 273).
On average, I receive a road ticket once a year. Last year I drove in a red light, which cost me 250 francs (about PLN 1,000 136). This year I exceeded the speed and received a fine of 240 francs (less than 1 thousand PLN 100).
In total, I spend about 1 thousand on the car. 430 Franks (less than PLN 6,000 500) per month.
Household
Every two weeks I do big shopping. The bill is usually about 200 francs (over PLN 900). I pay attention to promotions, especially to meat and fish. Then I buy large amounts and freeze them. In addition, I eat very healthy, I eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. I completely give up fast food, and I drink alcohol only on vacation.
I don't spend much on body care and hairdresser. I use olive oil soap for washing and hair. I have little time at work, so I always eat in the canteen. Lunches in the hospital cost about 250 francs a month.
Food outside the home does not appeal to me, except for the holidays. Then it happens that I spend 80 francs (over PLN 360) on dinner and a bottle of wine. In Switzerland it happens at most once every two months. Perhaps when I have guests from Germany.
My total expenses for meals outside the home are about 300 francs (over PLN 1,000 360) per month.
Savings holidays and other expenses
When it comes to clothes, I can't determine exactly how much I spend on them. I rarely buy something new. Actually, only once every three years, but then usually for 500 to 1000 francs in total (from about 2,000 200 to 4,000 PLN 500). Then I am looking for a sale and exchange clothes that slowly lose their charm. I buy sweaters, jeans, sometimes a shirt and new shoes.
I don't have expensive hobby, such as golf or skiing. In my free time I stay in the bosom of nature. I wander in the summer, and in winter I discover new places by car. Thanks to this I can cleanse the mind.
I have six weeks of vacation. I used to fly a plane often. Today I prefer to travel by car. Recently, I went on vacation to France, Italy and Austria. I book accommodation during the journey. It is not important to me that it is an elegant hotel. I need a shower, toilet and beds and I usually spend 60 francs (over PLN 270) per night.

However, once a year, in autumn, I go to the seaside for two weeks. Then I am spontaneously looking for a place that is cheap. In recent years I have been to the Canary Islands.
Pension is important to me, which is why I have private pension insurance in Germany. I pay 300 francs (over PLN 1,000 360) per month. This amount is then invested in investment funds. When I retire, I will be able to withdraw the invested money as capital.
Last year I paid almost 14 thousand. Franks (approx. PLN 63,000 600) taxes. It is less than I would pay in the canton of Zurich, where I work. I always control my budget. In the future I would like to buy a ownership apartment in Switzerland or elsewhere in Europe. Every month I can postpone about 4,000 Franks (over PLN 18,000).
I currently have 300,000 Franks (over PLN 1 million 360 thousand). This money is on a savings account and is not invested. I don't know how long my investment horizon will be. Maybe I will soon find a property and then I will need this money.
Of course, having many years of professional experience, you always want to earn more, but I'm happy where I am today. My financial situation is much better than before. I earn about twice as much as in a similar position in Germany.
In addition, in Switzerland I pay only about a third of taxes that I would have to pay in Germany. It gives me some financial freedom and security, which I value very much. In Switzerland, I don't have many friends except my work. Sometimes I miss it. Fortunately, I can spend time well with myself.
