The Minister of Defense, Ionuţ Măriţă, states that he does not agree with the investment of public money in the Army Sports Club (CSA) Steaua București, but supports the association with a private investor, to manage the club.
The Minister of Defense said that in the last two weeks he had “various meetings and discussions” on the football team Steaua, of the army, who plays in the Second League, writes News.ro. In this context, asked what is the Ministry's plan for the Steaua team, the minister rejected the idea of investing public money in a football team, even if it reaches the top of the League I.
“The plan is absolutely normal in the years we live, namely: if you want to perform in football, you cannot perform on public money. It would be unfair to put a lot of public money in a team to fight, to say, in the title or in the European cups,” said the Minister of Defense, on Tuesday night.
He claimed that an association is needed between the Steaua brand, which “must remain the army”, and an investor, “with a solid contract, with the possibility of investing, because football is a business”.
Moist has stated that the private investor is the one who should have the management of the club.
“We will do this, now we look at the legal ways and the legal steps,” the minister added.
