Everything happened in January 2024. According to the prosecutor’s office, friends called the young driver and asked them to take them from the checkpoint of the closed city along with the VAZ car. A speedometer was broken in the car, but neither its owner nor the driver considered this a significant drawback and showed carelessness.

“At the intersection, the driver did not notice how he exceeded the speed and drove into the red light. As a result, the VAZ collided with the PAZ bus full of passengers. They were frightened, but physically did not suffer, while 3 fellow travelers of the defendant were not fastened with seat belts and received severe injuries. One of the guys died in the hospital 5 days after the incident, and the other took place for long treatment, ”the prosecutor’s office said.

The driver did not plead guilty, as he considered his position on the road a priority.

“I did not even have time to slow down, besides, the bus cut the trajectory of movement. My speed was within the permissible limits, but there was ice on the street, ”he said.

At the same time, the accident had many eyewitnesses. Other motorists and passengers of the bus noticed that the maximum speed set at a busy intersection of 50 km/h was exceeded by the defendant at least half.

He himself asked for the termination of the criminal case in connection with the reconciliation with the mother of the deceased and the second victim. But the court aboutHe flicked his petition and sentenced him to 2 years in prison with the deprivation of the right to drive a car for 2 years, replacing the main punishment with forced labor with the deduction of 5 % on earnings in state revenue.

Note, the maximum punishment under Part 3 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code, which was charged with the driver, is imprisonment for up to five years.
