Cereal harvest is high, but due to the weather this summer, about 1/3 of the collected wheat does not meet consumer criteria – Minister of Agriculture Stefan Krajewski said on Thursday. He added that due to the low state of the pigs in Poland there are difficulties in developing feed grain.

This year's harvest should be over a long time ago, but due to weather conditions they are delayed and in some regions of the country the collections are still ongoing – the head of the Ministry of Agriculture said during the conference.
Information on high yields of domestic wheat is confirmed, but about 30-35 percent. The harvest will be a grain that will only be suitable for feed purposes – said Krajewski.
He added that this is due to the too low number of falling part of the collected grain – a parameter that shows whether it is suitable for milling. This, in turn, results from difficult weather conditions this summer.
However, the minister emphasized that wheat intended for flour would not be lacking. – The supply of consumer wheat in Poland will be about 8.5 million tons, with the demand of the milling industry at 3.8 to 4.0 million tons – he noted.

He noticed that the problem on the Polish agricultural market is too little demand for feed cereals, which is associated with a decrease in animal production, especially pigs. At the same time, due to the situation in global markets, it is difficult to export such grain.
The head of the ministry admitted that the current prices of cereals, especially feed, are lower than the expectations of farmers, and this is due to the situation throughout the world market. He noticed that some farmers are forced to sell grain now, but those who can store it can wait for the price increase.
Krajewski also pointed out that it is needed to increase the national pig's rack.
– I am in contact with agricultural organizations to prepare a good project to rebuild Polish floors – said Krajewski.
He admitted, however, that the biggest problem standing in the way of increasing the breeding is the African swine fever (ASF). – There are more outbreaks of this disease among wild boars and individual bonfires in pig farms – added the minister.
During the Thursday conference, representatives of MRiRW also referred to the problems reported by farmers with the sale of grain in purchase, including those belonging to the state -owned company Elewarr.
According to information provided by the Ministry during the long weekend, due to the failure, the cereals did not buy a branch of the company in Malbork. According to the information provided by the ministry, the company's branches will, however, buy grain “to the last client”.
As the representative of Elewarr Adam Rytelewski informed PAP, for two days, due to a technical break, the purchase was also suspended in the Rzeszów branch. At that time, rapeseed was removed from rapeseed warehouses, as well as drying of focused grain.
– From today, all Elewarru purchases work normally. We have available capacity in elevators – said Rytelewski.
He added that the company can store about 700 thousand in its warehouses. tons of grain, with part of this capacity used to store the state reserve. (PAP)
