The American singer of R&B Brandon Howard (known as B. Howard) will represent the US at the Eurovision equivalent in Russia, which will start in Moscow next month, the organizers announced on Thursday, according to the Russian Moscow Times.
Named intervision, the event brings back a Soviet alternative to Eurovision, which existed for a short time in the 1960s and 1970s. Russia was excluded from Eurovision in February 2022, following its large -scale invasion of Ukraine.
The organizers presented Howard as “a world-class star, whose music transcends the borders and unites the crops.” He will face Shaman, the Russian Pop singer Procez war, and with artists from 17 other countries in the live broadcast broadcast by the public station Pervîi Kanal (Channel One).
Howard, 43, was the subject of the media speculation that he is the son of pop music legend Michael Jackson, based on their striking resemblance and his connections with the restricted circle of the American singer, although the alleged DNA tests have later proved inconclusive and there is no evidence to support this statement.
Intervision, which begins this year on September 20, presents itself as a “depoliticized” holiday of music, although Russian president Vladimir Putin named personally, in February, in the Board of Directors and in the organizing committee of the High Officials of the Kremlin.
The organizers said that the 2025 edition will bring together artists from all over the world, “all continents being represented”.
The United Arab Emirates and Azerbaijan recently withdrew from the competition, invoking program conflicts.
