Another two weeks of rain in the country where over 700 people died due to floods

Pakistan is preparing for new torrential rains in the coming days, and the authorities warn about the risk of floods in cities, in the context in which the country is still facing the effects of the floods caused by the previous monsoon rains, DPA informs on Wednesday.
“Three different weather systems will bring heavy rains in the next 15 days,” Tayyab Shah said on Wednesday within the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
The torrential rains that have deviated on the North-West province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have already caused destruction and loss of human lives. So far, seven episodes of monsoon rains have been recorded this season. The eighth is expected to start on August 23 and could affect almost the entire country, especially Sindh's southern province.
The National Center for Emergency Operations of the NDMA (Neoc) warned on amounts of rainfall that could exceed 50-100 millimeters in the next 24 hours in certain areas of Sindh province.

According to NDMA, the balance of deaths caused by the torrential rains on June 26 reached 749, after another 42 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. Most victims, 446, were recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where rescue teams continue to look for over 150 missing people after the weekend rains.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the affected region and supervised the aid operations.
With a population of over 240 million inhabitants, Pakistan is one of the most vulnerable countries to the effects of climate change, according to the UN. Every year, hundreds of people lose their lives in disasters caused by climate change, and thousands remain without housing and living.
