Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has announced that his country will participate in the security of Ukraine, but remained discreet about what this would involve, writes CNN citing the Nippon publication.
“We will discuss in detail what our nation can do, including from the perspective of laws and capabilities, and we will play an adequate role,” Ishiba said on Tuesday, in front of reporters, at the headquarters of his office in Tokyo.
However, Ishiba stressed that Japan “is not in the phase in which he can provide details” about the support he can give Ukraine.
Although not a member of NATO, Japan collaborates very closely with the US military alliance, and Ishiba's comments are an indicator of the number of Western countries that are ready to help defend Ukraine in the case of a future Russian aggression, after a peace agreement to end the invasion of Moscow.
After the Monday meeting with US President Donald Trump and the Ukrainian, Volodimir Zelenski, who took place at the White House, European leaders discussed how they can provide security guarantees in the future, including by conducting a peacekeeping force.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on Monday that 30 countries, including Japan, are working on a framework to strengthen Ukraine's security after a fire termination agreement or a complete peace agreement between Kiev and Moscow.
