Russian ground planes at several airports in Germany

At least six Russian aircraft have been stationed at German airports for over three years; Machines cannot start due to EU sanctions – the broadcaster of WDR said. Three of them are strategic transport aircraft An-124 Ruslan.


WDR confirmed at the German Ministry of Transport that three An-124 are stationed at Leipzig/Halle airport. Powerful transport aircraft were to fly to Leipzig in February 2022 for maintenance work. According to the airport authorities, their owners, i.e. the Russian Volga-Dnepr airlines, are covered by the aircraft stop. The technical condition of four -engine jets after more than three years without a flight is unknown.
The Ministry of Transport also confirmed that the Boeing 737 passenger aircraft of the ATRAN Russian airlines and a medium -sized Bombardier Challenger 300 business aircraft of the Utair carrier are grounded at Kolonia/Bonn airport.
In addition, the passenger Boeing 747 Airlines Cargologicair has not started Frankfurt-Hahn Airport for three years.
Other Russian aircraft also got stuck at German airports. Their number is unknown, the details about them are not given to the public, because the investigations that determine their owners are underway. (PAP)
