We want the Alaska on Friday's meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to have an effect similar to that of sanctions, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Press statements on Wednesday, according to Reuters.
“The most important thing is that Europe will convince Donald Trump that it cannot be confident in Russia,” Tusk said, after the consultations between the Western allies before the bilateral summit that his Russian counter, Vladimir Putin will have on Friday.
The Polish prime minister claims that Russia wants to include the subject on reducing the presence of NATO troops in any conversations about the future of Ukraine.
“We hear in the last days that the Russians would very much like to include discussions about the reduction of NATO, for example in Poland, in discussions about the future of Ukraine,” he said.
“That is why it is so important to build a group of so strong and united states, both in relation to Russia and in the relationship with other allies, such as the United States,” explained the prime minister of Poland.
Wednesday consultations took place two days before the summit between the presidents of the United States and Russia. Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin will meet in Alaska on Friday, on Elmendorf-Richardson military base.
“The way peace is realized, extremely important for Romania”
President Nicușor Dan, who said “the future and security of our continent, including the Black Sea region, are also attended in the discussions on Wednesday.”
“We all agree that a cessation of fire must be reached before any negotiations are worn. As a neighbor with the longest terrestrial border with Ukraine, the way peace is made is extremely important for Romania, as it is for the whole of Europe,” said Nicușor Dan, on Wednesday, in a message on Platform X.
For Romania, he said, “the coordination and the transatlantic unit are essential.”
