The government explains why Ion Iliescu's death announced after almost two hours

The official announcement regarding the death of Ion Iliescu came from the Government, in a press release, at 5:53 pm, while the death took place at 15.55.
In a message on Facebook, the Emergency Clinical Hospital “Prof. Dr. Agrippa Ionescu”, where Ion Iliescu was admitted, announced that the former head of state died at 3:55 pm.
“According to the protocol, two hours are expected after the disappearance of vital signs” to announce the death, explained the government spokesman, Ioana Dogioiu, why the official announcement came later.

This evening, the government meets in a meeting to adopt the Government Decision on the funerals of former President Ion Iliescu, according to Hotnews sources.
Ion Iliescu died at the age of 95, at Agrippa Ionescu Hospital, where he was admitted on June 9. On June 16, doctors announced that Ion Iliescu suffers from lung cancer.
“Ion Iliescu has been admitted to our unit from June 9, and during the 57 days of hospitalization the multidisciplinary medical team has made every effort to ensure the necessary care and treatment,” the hospital says.
