David Popovici (20 years old) returned to Romania from Singapore, after the World Swimming Championships, which he managed to win two gold medals, at 100m and 200m free. The Romanian swimmer was welcomed at the airport and spoke about his course and the plans for the next period.
After managing to write history in Singapore, where he became the first swimmer in history who succeeds twice the double 100m-200m, Popovici returned to the country, where he spoke after landing at Otopeni Airport. He was greeted with applause from those present and received a bouquet of flowers.
David wanted to clarify the discussions arising from the beginning after saying that he was thinking of giving up the World Cup: “I will not give you any bad news today. I still love swimming. I do not know where you understand that I am withdrawn.”
Then he drew a new alarm signal about the way the state chooses to neglect the sport: “It seems to me to do everything you can to make a priority. Sport is the best ambassador of a country. One of my wishes, among the goals I have proposed, because I have a known face and I am a voice for this generation. Do the right thing, ”he said.
