Chinese engineers on Saturday presented a new generation of computer -like computer, called Darwin Monkey, which can mimic the functioning of a monkey in the macaque family, informs the Xinhua press agency, taken by Agerpres.

Developed by the National Strategic Cerebral Intelligence Laboratory at Zhejiang University in the province of Zhejiang in eastern China, the computer is equipped with 960 Darwin 3 chips, a third generation neuronal processing units, similar to this laboratory.

The chip network supports over 2 billion neural pulses and over 100 billion synapses, making Darwin Monkey the first brain -like computer that combines advanced thinking, hearing, language and learning. It consumes approximately 2,000 energy in normal operating conditions.

The research team has successfully implemented several intelligent computer applications.

It can run the large Deepseek model, similar to the brain, to perform tasks such as logical reasoning, content generation and solving mathematical problems.

By capitalizing on its strong neural and synaptic resources, the new system can also preliminarily simulate the brains of animals with different sizes of neurons, including those of the worms in the Nematode, Zebra fish, mice and macacs, thus offering new possibilities for researching brain science.
