Information about the earthquake was provided by the geophysical services of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The epicenter of the shock was located 150 km southeast of Piepochtłów Kamchatki, at a depth of 17 km. In the city itself, the earthquake was felt with a slightly lower force.

“The unconditional alarm was announced before the tsunami off the coast of the Gulf of Avacza”. Japanese authorities also issued a warning against Tsunami. According to the Japanese national meteorological administration, tsunami waves can reach a height of 3 meters. Residents were asked to avoid approaching the coast.
