What about the “coup state”? Prok. Skiba: The marshal's interrogation in the coming days

In the coming days or weeks, it is planned to hear the Sejm Marshal Szymon Hołownia as a witness on his words about the “coup d'état” – Piotr Antoni Skiba spokesman of the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw told PAP on Monday. The period of interrogation depends on the marshal's availability.

Last Friday at Polsat News, the Sejm Marshal Szymon Hołownia said that he had repeatedly suggested that he delay the swearing in to Karol Nawrocki as president of the Republic of Poland and thus made a “coup.” When asked who made these proposals, he talked about people who “did not like the result of the presidential election.”
On Monday, a spokesman for the Warsaw District Prosecutor's Office Piotr Antoni Skiba told PAP that at this stage the statement of Hołownia requires hearing him as a notifying witness. – It will definitely be carried out in the coming days or weeks. Everything depends on the temporary possibilities – we do not want to block the work of the Sejm or the marshal's work in any way – added Prosecutor Skiba.
– We are very interested in what the Speaker of the Sejm has to transfer a coup d'état in the scope of incitement to a possible crime – he noted. According to him, the prosecutor's office is prepared for “very long, exhausting interrogation in this area.”
Prok. Skiba confirmed that the application to the prosecutor's office regarding the words of the marshal was sent by Bartosz Lewandowski – a representative of the National Council of the Judiciary as part of the proceedings regarding the “coup d'état” initiated by notification of the President of the Constitutional Tribunal Bogdan Święczkowski. MEC. Lewandowski on platform X informed that his request regarding the words of Hołownia was submitted as part of this proceeding.
As Prosecutor Skiba said, the prosecutor's office decided that this thread “must be recognized as soon as possible, as part of a possible interrogation” of the Speaker of the Sejm. – At this stage, in this respect, we want to determine what the circumstances of this conclusion are – emphasized Skiba.
He added that the fate of this case would depend on the testimony of the marshal. After them, the prosecutor's office will decide whether separate proceedings will be conducted in this respect, or whether the testimonies of Hołownia will be attached to the already conducted proceedings regarding the suspicion of committing a “coup”.
The notification of Święczkowski concerned the suspicion of committing a crime of a coup. by: Prime Minister, Marshals of the Sejm and Senate, ministers or the head of the Government Legislative Center. According to the President of the Constitutional Tribunal, the crime was that from December 13, 2023, these persons act “in an organized criminal group”, aimed at “changing the constitutional system of the Republic of Poland and acting to achieve or stop the activities of the Constitutional Tribunal and other constitutional bodies, including the National Council of the Judiciary and the Supreme Court.” The proceedings were originally, at the beginning of this year, initiated by the Deputy Prosecutor General Michał Ostrowski, to which the notification was sent by Święczkowski.
“Faithful soldiers of Zbigniew Ziobro, or Bogdan Święczkowski and Mr. Michał Ostrowski, carry out very specific political tasks” – commented the then prosecutor general Adam Bodnar in February. In mid -February, Bodnar suspended in the activities of Prosecutor Ostrowski for six months. Bodnar emphasized that “there is no consent to breaking the basic principles of the prosecutor's office.” The issue of initiating and conducting by the prosecutor's investigation without registration in the prosecutor's registration system regarding the possibility of “committing a crime of assassination” began to be investigated by the ministerial disciplinary spokesman “ad hoc”.
The investigation was taken over by the Warsaw District Prosecutor's Office.
Prok. Skiba did not rule out in an interview with PAP that the Speaker of the Sejm would be called to the prosecutor's office at one of the threads of the “coup duty” at another time.
Rzepeczki: the president is concerned
Presidential adviser Łukasz Rzepecki emphasized on Monday that Andrzej Duda “was very concerned” the words of Szymon Hołownia about the “coup of state”. He informed that the president would meet with the Speaker of the Sejm “around Friday”. It is possible that after the meeting a notification will be submitted to the prosecutor's office – he added.
Last Friday, Hołownia told Polsat News that he was repeatedly suggested that he delay the swearing in to Karol Nawrocki as president of the Republic of Poland and thus made a “coup.” When asked who made these proposals, he talked about people who “did not like the result of the presidential election.”
On Monday, in “Evening Express” on YouTube, adviser to the President of the Republic of Poland Łukasz Rzepecki said that Andrzej Duda was very concerned about the words of Marshal Hołownia. He informed that at the end of the week the president is planning a meeting with Hołownia in this matter. As he noted, the conversation was to take place earlier, but the Speaker of the Sejm was prevented by private considerations.
– Around Friday this meeting will take place. And I would not exclude notification from the part of whether it was the Chancellery of the President or President Andrzej Duda himself after talking to Marshal Szymon Hołownia in connection with these reports, or these words spoken by Marshal Szymon Hołownia – said Rzepecki.
