The firefighters fought on Sunday with vegetation fires in several areas of Turkey, in the context of an extreme heat wave that affects the Mediterranean region. The authorities evacuated over 3,600 people from localities in two provinces, according to Reuters.
The fires in the southern provinces of Măin and Antalya, as well as in the USAK central province, were largely under control. However, the outbreaks of the North-Western province of the Bursa and Northern province of Karabuk continued to burn, said the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumakli.

A vegetation fire broke out on Saturday in a wooded area between the Gersu and Kestel districts in the Bursa province, where much of the Turkish auto industry is located. A portion of the highway that connects Istanbul to the city of Izmir, western part of the country, was temporarily closed on Saturday night due to fire.
Huge flames covered the trees in areas near the houses in the Stock Exchange, and the dense smoke covered the sky of the city, according to the images captured on the spot.

The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumakli, said that about 1,765 people were evacuated from the Kestel district of the Bursa province. About 2,000 firefighters intervene to extinguish the fire, with the support of six planes and four extinguishing helicopters.
In the northern province of Karabuk, where a five -day fire burns, 1,839 people from 19 villages were evacuated, Yumakli said. Three planes and 16 helicopters intervene in the area, under extremely difficult conditions.
“We are going through a high risk period. It does not seem to end in two to three days,” said the minister, referring to the heat wave.
Turkey's weather service has announced that on Sunday, over 40 degrees Celsius will be recorded in several regions, with temperatures by 6 to 12 degrees above the normal values for this period.
On Saturday, the thermometers indicated 50 degrees Celsius in the southeast of the country, a record value in the history of meteorological measurements in Turkey.
