Controversy around the Anti -Corruption Act in Ukraine. The head of Nabo spoke

“It was a shock for me how much support he got [pomysł] destruction of us” – Krywonos said in an interview published on Friday evening.
The Ukrainian parliament voted on Tuesday the Act on the Limitation of NAB autonomy [Narodowego Biura Antykorupcyjnego Ukrainy] and sap [Specjalnej Prokuratury Antykorupcyjnej]which were to be subject to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. Therefore, in several large cities, including in Kiev, there were on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to the protests against the limitation of the independence of these institutions fighting corruption. Ukrainian media pointed out that many participants of the demonstration were associated with the times of the pro -Russian president Viktor Yanukovych.
The authorities of European countries, including France and Germany, critically assessed the act.
In an interview with the Reuters agency, Krywonos pointed out that he would appreciate the change of the position of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelanski in this matter, but he believes that Nabu and SAP remain uncomfortable for the part of the elite, which strives to destroy them. On Thursday, Zelanski brought a draft law to the parliament to restore all permissions and independence of NAB and SAP. Both institutions stated that the presidential bill is in accordance with their expectations. It is to be voted in parliament on July 31.
Krywonos: There is a campaign against anti -corruption institutions
– All those who are offended by Nabu and SAP will duplicate this message – Krywonos described the campaign, which in his opinion is already against anti -corruption institutions. He was conducted through anonymous channels on the telegram to convince Ukrainians about the dysfunction of these organs.
Political elites “should cease to consider us their enemies, and consider us an important part of the state institutions” – emphasized the director of Nab. He pointed out that the hunt for these institutions is the result of an intensive fight against corruption they leadespecially over the past six months.
Both Nab and SAP are considered the fruit of the revolution of dignity in Ukraine from 2013-2014, because the fight against corruption was one of the demands of the participants of the revolution. Although anti -corruption activities were carried out immediately after the overthrow of President Yanukovych, the institutionalization of these bodies and the creation of NABs was finalized in 2015.
The parliament adopted the Act “on the National Anti -Corruption Bureau of Ukraine” in October 2014, and on April 16, 2015, the then President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko issued two decrees: on the establishment of Nab and nomination on his boss Artema Sytnyk. On September 22, 2015, a special anti -corruption prosecutor's office is created [SAP]whose establishment was one of the conditions of the European Union in expanding cooperation with Ukraine.
