The British Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns Israel. “In the coming days we will consider steps”

The highest -ranking diplomat of Great Britain said on Tuesday on Radio Times Radio that the government would “consider further actions in the coming days” after issuing a joint statement – signed on Monday by foreign ministers from Europe and part of the countries of the Nations Community – in which they accuse Israel of refusal to help civilians in the Gaza Strip.

In a letter signed by foreign ministers, among others Australia, Canada and France found that the model for providing help by Israel is “dangerous, fuels instability and deprives the inhabitants of gauze of human dignity.” It condemned the proposals to transfer the Palestinian population to the “humanitarian city” as “completely unacceptable” and “violating international humanitarian law”.

Israel rejected the statement as “detached from reality” and accused the signatories of sending “the wrong signal to Hamas”, which Tel Aviv has been trying to eliminate from the time of attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023.

Lammy emphasized the existing means taken by Great Britain against Israel, including imposing sanctions on two ministers (the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gwira and the Minister of Finance, Nzalelel Smotricza), i.e. suspension of commercial negotiations and suspending the sale of some types of weapons.

However, the Minister of Foreign Affairs warned: “In the coming days we will consider taking further steps if we do not see the end of this war and suffering, which we witness in the Gaza Strip.”

Lammy said that the number of fatalities in the Gaza Strip is so high because Israel “did not accept what I told them and many other foreign ministers, namely that it is impossible to limit 400 humanitarian aid points and the activities of Unrwa [agencji pomocy humanitarnej ONZ] and UN to four help points throughout the country. “

“You cannot reduce the number of 700-800 trucks needed a day to less than 40 and not expect a huge influx of people to available food,” he added.

Commenting on the idea of the “humanitarian city” proposed by the Israeli defense minister Katz Katz on Rafah ruins, Lammy said BBC: “Limiting the population of Gaza to 15 percent The territory of the country, which is currently the most densely populated place in the world, is shameful. This is completely unacceptable. This should be condemned loudly. Of course, it sheds bad light on Israel“.

The British minister also clearly expressed that Great Britain wants a permanent suspension of weapons between Israel and Hamas, and not only a 60-day suspension of weapons proposed by the United States.
