You can call with the new T2 option even “outside the access zone”

T2, the Russian mobile operator, launched Voice Over Wi-Fi (Vowifi) in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The new service allows you to make calls on Wi-Fi where mobile communications can be unavailable: in buildings with thick walls, basements, high-rise buildings, and even abroad.
Vowifi allows you to use a standard Wi-Fi network for calls if the coating of a mobile network is absent or unstable. The technology is especially relevant for those who can be in rooms with difficult conditions of radio, as well as abroad, that is, in places where a router is used instead of a signal from operator networks.
To use Voice Over Wi-Fi, the subscriber should make sure that his mobile device supports Volte and Vowifi, and the technologies themselves are activated in the internal settings of the gadget. Vowifi calls are rated as voice traffic, even if you call from other countries. An additional payment for the service is not charged.

For the successful implementation of the service, the technical department of T2 modernized the systems of voice and package switching. Thanks to this, the operator reduced the time to establish a connection between devices, provided improved sound quality, stable connection and transmission of information without interference, echo and noise.
“In 2024, we introduced VOLTE technology, which allows you to call the 4G network, this year went further – we launched Vowifi. It is fundamentally important that both options expand the capabilities of customers without a price of communication. Calls are rated as voice traffic, spending only minutes from the tariff package. We already see the demand for technology – every day the share of voice traffic in alternative channels is growing, ”said Alexander Fedotov, technical director of the T2 branch in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
