Over 200 inhabitants of Praid commune participated on Saturday in a peaceful protest, organized to attract the attention of the authorities on the situation generated by the flooding of the salt mine, informs Agerpres.

The participants gathered in front of the Culture House in the commune, wearing banners with messages: “justice!”, “Clean environment”, “together for tomorrow”, “survival”, “decent living” or “jobs”. The protesters then started to the pre -Praid Salina headquarters, chanting “new saline” and demanding the resignation of director Salrom, Dan Dobrea.

From an improvised scene in front of the premises of the Praid Saline was read a petition, in 13 points, in which urgent measures are requested to protect the future of the community and the region.

Locals ask for access to documents

Among the requests are the publication of the name and qualification of all the experts involved in the works of deviation of the Corund stream and the rescue of the mine, including the delegations of the European Commission, but also of the official documents regarding these processes, as well as the definitive deviation of the Corund stream, to bring the salinity of the Târnava Mică river to the normal levels and to ensure the access to the water “.

At the same time, it is requested to “clarify the situation of the evacuated persons, including the identification of concrete options for relocation and return”, the operationalization of the monitoring system and its interconnection with the RO-Alert system or the detailed publication of the results of the inter-ministerial commission regarding the future of the mine.

People also demand constant information and access to public information and support “the steps based on professional expertise, publicly assumed by specialists, with verifiable names and qualification”.

The locals want everyone responsible for this situation to be held accountable and hope that a new tourist mine and another production mine will be built, so that the area will continue to have a future.

“Now, through the injustice that happens here, we are stolen the right to stay at home. They have stolen our hope that we have a place where we can dream. We live in this helpless nightmare and we can do nothing. For us, the mine does not mean figures and contracts, the mine is the place where the past has been here. Map, but for us it is the center of the world and we will not give up, ”said one of the locals.

The petition read at the Praid protest will be sent to all the institutions empowered from local and central level.
