During the discussion with the press, Ovidiu Hațegan spoke about his new position, in which he will debut with the start of the new season of Superliga.
“A new season begins, I think the 20th in the first league. I have this chance, as a lime referee, I can continue the activity that I liked the most. And I am very grateful,” said Ovidiu.
“Regarding the new role, as Mr. Vassaras said, there are still something to determine. But the role will be to improve the benefits of the arbitrators and assistants Var. The Var plays a very important role. No one imagines a match without him, no one accepts a lime-free match anymore. Unfortunately, mistakes appear, and those in the lime room can correct them ”, he pointed out.

“That night I knew that my referee career was over”
Ovidiu Hațegan also spoke about his health, about how the infarction that officially removed from the European circuit was produced.
“It was not difficult to move from the field to the Var room. Three years ago and something I had that moment. That night I knew that my referee career was over. I was always rational. The fact that I arbitrated a year was something incredible. A madness, in fact! I took some risks. But after I gave up, I didn't feel the need to come back. Certainly the new role in the Lime Chamber has contributed, ”said Ovid.
“It was not an accident, but a moment I passed. The explanation received from the doctors was a simple one. I have a problem, cholesterol is faster on the arteries than for other people. Which means that those atheroma plates are formed in my body (no- lesions developing on blood vessels) Which narrows the arteries those plates break during life, into smaller or larger pieces, ”he continued with the explanations.
In my case, a larger piece went into circulation and met the right coronary artery around the heart, which was also obstructed in a certain percentage.
