Balkan countries in the EU instead of Ukraine? The head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about “new energy”

“The European Union itself is an obstacle”
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in turn, assessed on Tuesday that “The European Union itself is the only obstacle on the path of accession to Podgorica”. During the Spajic visit to Budapest, a number of bilateral agreements were signed in the infrastructure, telecommunications and IT sectors.
The Montenegrin Prime Minister noticed during a visit to Hungary that “EU countries see in his country a future member of the community with whom they want to cooperate with large projects and invest in a more successful future.”
Montenegro applied for membership in the EU in December 2008, and in December 2010 she obtained the status of a candidate country. Accession negotiations began in June 2012. So far 33 negotiating chapters have been opened, which makes this country a leader on the road to joining the community.
The Hungarian government strongly opposes Ukraine's accession to the EU. A spokesman for the Hungarian government Zoltan Kovacs announced on June 26 that 95 percent voting in the referendum “VOKS 2025” objected to the accelerated path of Ukraine's accession to the community. The referendum was accompanied by the anti -Ukrainian campaign run by the Hungarian authorities. Hungary has also been blocking the start of Ukraine's negotiations with the EU since February.
