A aircraft service and recycling center is to be built at the Olsztyn -Mazury Airport in Szymany – said the president of the airport in Szymany Wiktor Wójcik. The airport has signed a contract with a company specializing in the provision of this type of service in this matter.


The HANGARS construction project, in which the Aircraft Recycling Center will be called Flight Eco Center. The center is to run AMS Poland, which is associated with the Pente Technical Group, specializing in providing advanced technical services for the aviation sector.
“As an airport in Szymany, we will build a hangar with an area of 7,000 sq m. We will rent it to a company that will service or recycled in it. Those parts that will be suitable for sale will be sold and the other parts will be subjected to utilization,” said President of the Airport in Szymany Wiktor Wójcik.
He added that for the lease of the hangar the airport in Szymany he will receive 172 thousand. PLN per month. The Hangar lease agreement was signed on Tuesday for 15 years.
Wójcik said that the estimated cost of building a hangar is about PLN 100 million. The project is on the list of key investments of the region and will receive PLN 50 million support from EU funds. The rest of the money will be laid down by the airport. “We've been preparing for it for years,” said Wójcik, asked if the airport was able to incur such expenses.
In July, the airport intends to sign a contract for co -financing the construction of the hangar, and the hangar itself is to be ready in the second quarter of 2027.
The airport in Szymany already has an environmental decision to conduct this type of circular activity. This is a key decision because the airport is in the Natura 2000 zone. “These are not those times when you can afford not to follow environmental standards. We will care and watch about it” – assured Wójcik.
The President of the Management Board of AMS Poland Nikola Vuković told the media that the company's representatives are satisfied with the cooperation with the airport in Szymany. “Decisions are made here quickly, cooperation is very good,” said Vuković.
The airport in Szymany, which is owned by the voivodship self -government, ended the loss of PLN 17 million last year. The previous year ended with a loss of PLN 19 million. Wójcik told PAP that “in terms of the number of passengers, the airport will never beat records.” “For this reason, Okołotniskowa's activity is so important for us. We must look for money in the activities not only related to the briefing of travelers” – emphasized Wójcik.
Regular connections with London and Krakow take place from the airport in Szymany. Charter flights to Turkey and Egypt will take place in the summer season. (PAP)
