“You are very good at ice roof,” Trump told a Finnish reporter during the press conference that the US president held at the end of the NATO summit in The Hague. These ships can contribute to the consolidation of US defense in the Arctic, notes The Associated Press.
Trump said he was going to Finnish President Alexander Stubb to buy a “pretty worn ice snack” and offered him “about one third of the required amount.”
“But we are in negotiations,” Trump said.
“We need ice breakers in the US. And if we can get some at an advantageous price, I would like to do this,” added the White House leader.
Trump also said that Finland is the “King of Ice Breaks” and suggested that the United States would be willing to buy up to 15 such vessels, including the used ice breaker, which Trump said could be available immediately.
“We are trying to do a good deal,” the US president said.
