A new strike will paralyze Belgium on Wednesday, when employees in public and private sectors will protest against budget reductions announced by the new federal government. Two of the most common airports by Romanians, Brussels and Charleroi, will be closed, writes The Brussels Times. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has transmitted a warning for Romanians who want to travel to Belgium.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs Romanian citizens who are located, transit or intend to travel to Belgium that for June 25, 2025 a national transport strike has been announced, so there will be significant disturbances throughout the country.
The main problems are aimed at air transport, which will be completely blocked. The main airports-Brussels-Zaventem and Charleroi-announced the cancellation of all flights scheduled for Wednesday, and the passengers will be contacted by airlines for reschedule or reimbursement, according to a statement sent by the Romanian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
The airport authorities recommend travelers not to go to the airport on this day, for safety reasons and to avoid agglomeration.
Strike and in local transport
And public transport and public services will be affected by the general strike on Wednesday, June 25th. For now, it is not clear what subway lines, tram and bus will work, but the local transport company will try to “maintain at least some of the services”. Passengers are encouraged to use alternative means of travel, such as the Floya application, which combines several transport options, says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Although railway operators did not announce that they will join the strike, train delays are expected.
And the administrative services, such as those for the population, residence and civil status, from some municipalities will be affected. In addition, the sanitation agency in the Brussels region has announced that sanitation and cleaning services will be affected.
Tens of thousands of people are expected on Wednesday, at 10:00, at the Brussels North Station. From there, they will march through the city to near the Brussels Midi train station.
