This measure follows the conclusions of the first investigation within the International Public Procurement Instrument (IPI) and does not allow more than 50 % of China production factors for winning offers, writes G4 Media.
The answer is proportional to the barriers of China, ensuring, at the same time, that all the necessary medical devices are available for the EU's health system.
The measures are in accordance with the international EU obligations, including within the WTO, as the EU has no mandatory public procurement commitments to China.
The measure aims to stimulate China to cease discrimination against EU enterprises and medical devices made in the EU and treat EU companies with the same opening as EU to Chinese companies and products.
This is a response to the long -term exclusion of China of medical devices made in the EU from Chinese government contracts.
At the G7 summit in Canada, the President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von Der Leyen criticized China for disturbing world trade, trying to find a common ground with President Donald Trump.
Ursula von der Leyen EU accused China that “Use as a weapon” Its leading position in the production and refinement of critical raw materials and ignores worldwide commercial rules to undermine competitors.
Since April, Beijing has significantly restricted the exports of permanent magnets and the minerals needed to make them.
“When we focus our attention on the customs tariffs between the partners, we deviate our energy from the true challenge – one that threatens us all. At this point, Donald is right – it's a serious problem ”, said von der Leyen in a direct comment addressed to Trump.
