Donald Trump rejected the information on Thursday in the Wall Street Journal, who claimed to have approved US attack plans against Iran. Trump said that the publication “has no idea” what he actually believes in the conflict between Israel and Iran, according to The Guardian. Instead, the White House announces that the decision will be taken within two weeks.

According to the article that appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Trump would have told his advisers the day before he approved the plans, but postpone the final order to see if the Tehran gives up his nuclear program. The information was attributed to anonymous sources among the officials.

On Thursday, Donald Trump reacted to the article, writing on the SA Truth Social Platform: “Wall Street Journal has no idea what I think about Iran!”

According to an American official quoted by Axios, Trump's decision would depend on the efficiency of the Massive Ordnance Penetrating Bomb (MOP) – if it were to destroy the Fortow Uranium enrichment installation. The complex, located in a mountain to the south of Tehran, is one of the targets of Israel, but the Israeli army has no “bunker-buster” bombs nor the planes needed to hit it. The US, on the other hand, hold both.

“We will be prepared to hit Iran. We are not yet convinced that we are needed. And we want it to be needed, but I think the president is simply not convinced that our presence is necessary at this time,” an American official said.

Inside the Trump administration and at the tip of the Pentagon there are discussions about the efficiency of the GBU-57 bombs. Trump would not be convinced that these bombs would be able to destroy the Fortow complex and consider the possibility of direct US intervention to be avoided by negotiations with Iran.

White House: Trump will decide in the next two weeks if the US will attack Iran

According to two defense officials, informed about the discussions, the only weapon that could destroy the Fortow complex, in the depths, would be a tactical nuclear weapon.

In a press briefing at the White House on Thursday, the Karoline Leavitt spokesman sent a message that, according to her, comes directly from the president and can be attributed to him.

“Given that there are real chances that negotiations with Iran – or not – will make a decision in the next two weeks whether or not,” Leavitt said.

The day before, Wednesday, Trump had told journalists that he has “some ideas about what should be done, but I haven't made a final decision – I like to decide in the last second.”

“I might do it, I might not do it,” he added, referring to a possible direct involvement of the US. “There is a very important week, maybe even less than that.”

The mission of Iran to the UN transmitted a harsh statement: “Iran does not negotiate under pressure, does not accept peace imposed and certainly not with an outdated warrior who clings to relevance.”

The uncertainties related to a direct involvement of the US come in the context in which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Trump “a great friend of Israel” and thanked him “because he is with us.”

The Pentagon sent several war vessels to the Middle East, including three destroyers and two joys with aircraft carriers, while the State Department intensified support for American citizens who were advised to leave the region.

Trump's denial of information published by Wall Street Journal comes against the background of a break -in inside the “Make America Again” (Mag) coalition on a possible attack on Iran – a dispute that seems to mitigate, notes the cited British publication. Both the former Fox News Tucker Carlson presenter as well as the former Political Strategist at the White House, Steve Bannon, have expressed concern that a new military involvement in the Middle East would contradict the principles of “America First” policy.

Bannon said on Wednesday that Trump could gain the confidence of skeptics from supporters if he would directly explain to Americans why Iran would need an intervention.

Trump also said on Wednesday that Tucker Carlson was calling to apologize after saying that “he is an accomplice to an act of war.”

“Tucker is a job. He called me and apologized for the other days, because he felt he said a little harsh, and I appreciated that,” Trump said from the White House.
