Russia's summer offensive and its strategic goals

In an article published on Wednesday evening, the newspaper emphasized that the Russian troops took up more “Ukraine's territory in May than in almost every other month from the end of 2022”. The Kremlin runs a summer offensive to create an impression in the West that Russia's victory is within reach – she added.

In the opinion of “WSJ” peace conversations “were in an impasse”, and the attention is again directed to the battlefield, where the fate of the war is to be decided.

Russia attacks on several fronts, wanting to force Ukraine to agree to demands, which in fact come to the surrender of the government in Kiev. Ukraine, however, wants to stop Russia and cause enough damage to its forces to convince the Kremlin that the costs of continuing aggression are too high.
