Didi Taihuttu, the Patriarch of the famous “Bitcoin Family”, said he had completely reviewed the family security system after several threats, CNBC reports.

Taihuttu and his family, who in 2017 sold everything they had, from the house to the shoes, to invest in full in Bitcoin, decided to completely give up hardware wallets. Instead, they developed a hybrid system: digital part, an analog part, with seed the encrypted, divided and hidden four continents.

“I changed everything. Even if someone threatened me with the weapon, I can only give them what I have on the phone. And that's not much.” Taihuttu said in a Phuket's telephone interview, Thailand, according to News.ro.

The family decision comes against the background of the alarming growth of physical attacks on cryptocurrency holders. Recently, in Morocco, the police arrested a 24 -year -old accused of orchestrating several brutal kidnappings.

In a shocking case in France, the daughter of a crypto wallet was almost abducted in the street, and in another, a co-founder of Ledger and his wife were abducted from home. In New York, a 28 -year -old Italian tourist was tortured for 17 days for his Bitcoin wallet password.

In the face of this growing threat, some insurance companies have started to offer special Kidnap and Ransom policies for cryptocurrency owners. But the Taihuttu family does not expect such corporate solutions: they decided to take the risk completely, decentralizing not only the finances, but also the personal risk profile.

“We have become a little famous in a market niche, but that niche is now very big. I think we will see more and more robberies. So, yes, we will jump over France.”Taihuttu said.

Their current system involves the division of a seed phrase of 24 words into four sets of six words, each hidden in a different place in the world. One part is digitally encrypted by blockchain platforms, and the other is manually engraved on flame retardant and physically hidden.

“Even if someone finds 18 of the 24 words, he can do nothing”Taihuttu explained. In addition, the family introduced its own encryption method, replacing certain words to mislead potential attackers.

The reason for giving up hardware wallets, according to Taihuttu, is the lack of confidence in these devices, especially after the controversial updates of Ledger in 2023. From now on, the family holds most of their funds (about 65%) in “Cold Storage”, on four continents. For daily use, they retain small amounts in “hot” wallets, protected by multi-signatures and decentralized platforms such as Apex.

For Taihuttu, the goal of the current investment cycle remains clear: he wants to turn his portfolio into a net wealth of $ 100 million, of which 60% kept in Bitcoin. The rest is invested in Ether, Solana, Link, SUI and projects in the AI and Education area, including its own platform for blockchain courses for children.

Lately, however, Taihuttu has been thinking of retreating from the center of public attention.

“I like to create content. But if it's not sure for my daughters I have to think seriously.”he ended.

Cryptocurrency, kidnappers and fingers cut

In the last year, the European and American authorities have registered dozens of documented cases of physical aggression aimed at cryptocurrency owners. Cases in which people were beaten, tied, tortured, and in two situations-their fingers were cut, to force the unlock of the fingerprint digital wallets.

In January, in the center of France, David Balland – one of the co -founders of the Ledger digital wallet company – was kidnapped with his partner.

A footage sent to other team members showed how Balland was mutilated: “Fingers: 9/10” wrote, ironically, later on his social media account. The police intervened and saved the couple, but the trauma remains.

In another case, the father of a French Crypto influence was abducted by individuals disguised as Amazon courier. It was filmed with a weapon at the head, and the recording was sent as a blackmail message. Redemption was paid, life has been saved.

In May, several criminals armed with knives and at least one compressed air gun tried to kidnap an important entrepreneur in the cryptocurrency industry and her child on a street in Paris, in the middle of the day, even under the eyes of passers -by.

The woman was walking with their partner and their child on a street in the 11th round of Paris and was attacked by several masked individuals. Men tried to force the woman and her little child to enter a white van, after hitting the child's father, who tried to intervene.

Images filmed by a witness in his apartment also shows how the woman-who is believed to be the daughter of a top director in the crypto field-grabs a gun belonging to the attackers before throwing it.

In the recording, while being beaten, her husband seems to shout: “Help! She's pregnant!”

The casualties of the victims eventually attracted the attention of the passers -by, which caused the attackers to run away with the van.
